In 1982, Robert "Skip" Helcher and Joe Schlegel, two successful sales representatives with a well-established construction fastener company, decided to break away form their employer and explore their entrepreneurial spirit. Working with a shoestring budget to buy inventory, Skip's wife as the "office staff," and calling on their old customers, Skip and Joe gave birth to Allied Fastener & Tool, Inc. Twenty years later, with over $12 million in sales, a staff of 70 (30 of those being sales representatives), and seven locations throughtout Florida, Skip and Joe still aren't resting on the laurels. Since that time, Skip, Joe and their staff (many of whom have been with the company for ten or more years), have dedicated themselves to bringing Florida's construction industry the best fasteners, power tools, generators, diamond blades and accessories as well as unrivaled customer service. Allied is one of the few companies that actually listens to its customers and stocks the shelves according to what the industry wants, instead of what Allied thinks their customers should use.
